Data Integrity Not Guaranteed

All data in an ERP environment must be of the highest Integrity

If an ERP system has anything less than the highest level of data integrity, it will give you misleading recommendations, answers, costs, etc at the speed of light.

Experienced operators of the systems often “intuitively” know there is something wrong, but don’t feel they have time to investigate, and are in danger of using their “own set of numbers” (often on an unofficial spreadsheet system) to make important company decisions. A computer-based planning system is only as good as the data and program logic that drives it. The more complex or precise demands on your ERP system are, the more accurate your data needs to be.

Many companies establish data in a new ERP system by migrating data from the previous system and fail to use the opportunity to ensure accuracy and the level of precision required.

You can tell if this is a problem as you will regularly inconsistencies or errors in the following:

• Inventory Records for all types of inventory

• Bills of Material / Product Specifications / Formulations / Recipes

• Production Process Steps (Routings)

• Work Centres

• Calendars

• Customer & Supplier Master Files

• Planning Parameters

• Item / Product / Material Coding Systems

• Actual data collected to measure performance

• And much, much more!
